What customers say?

“ Interior 12 out of 10! It's an unusually beautiful place, the atmosphere of a French movie. But the food is disappointing... Not to say it wasn't tasty, but for the price of $50-$60 per dish you expect something that can impress you and open new boundaries of taste. The «Steak Rossini» presented on photo was delicious, good meat. But «The Duck Breast» dish was frankly awful, the sauce was too smoky and the turnips were absolutely disgustingly cooked. So the negative residue only concerns the cook. The receptionist was pleasant and the waitress-woman was also positive and fun. We would like to come back and see in better cuisine. ”

“ We had a fantastic dinner here on our first night in Bergen. The scallop and tarte were a great way to start the meal along with the bread a butter they serve. Both main dishes were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and was served over truffled mashed potatoes with a bordelaise sauce. The truffled mashed potatoes weren’t too “truffley” which was nice, sometimes truffle can over power a dish. The sauce was very flavorful as well. I had the halibut which I loved. It was a large piece of fish and the sauce was very flavorful as well. The sommelier helped us both pick out a glass of wine that would go with each of our mains. We asked him for some other restaurant recommendations in Bergen and he gave us a few places which we went to and loved. Overall a great experience. ”

“ One of the most amazing restaurants i’ve visited i Norway. It’s so well thought through. It has an open kitchen were you can watch your food being prepared. I will definitely come back. The atmosphere ”

“ Amazing atmosphere and food. Breakfast starts early. It's part of the hotel, but genuinely worth the visit even if you are not staying there. ”

“ Excellent French food in a beautifully themed atmosphere with attentive, friendly staff. The Bavette steak with bordelaise sauce was honestly better than any I’ve had in France (sorry, France). The truffle-loaded mashed potatoes were rich and generous, and the presentation of the two was perfection. The recommended house wine paired so perfectly it felt like fate. I found myself looking for that coveted star by the end of the meal! (-; My wife’ is seldom negative. However. she loves martinis and the French Martini she ordered was served in a tall glass full ice like a Long Island Tea. That was a bit rough for a martini lover to swallow! Sadly, her teeth are sensitive to ice and she never wants it. And martinis are best served/drank in a martini or coupe or anything elegant glass. The trooper she is, she drank it because she LOVED it (full disclosure it was excellent). She just didn’t like the ice or glass. After desert and a properly glassed espresso martini she was fine. I They were even nice to show us around the bar two floors up and a speakeasy two more floors up! All three were IMMACULATELY decorated. Moral of the story, put Cheri’s on the top of your list to go to on your trip to Bergen and order your French martini in a proper glass - without ice cubes! You’ll love the place. ”

“ We stopped into Brasserie Chérie for early evening wine and small plates while exploring the Skostredet area. It’s tucked along a walkable side street lined with bars, vintage shops, and record stores. The vibe inside is moody and stylish—lots of dark wood, dim lighting, and velvet textures that feel more Paris than Bergen. You can tell they’re going for a grown-up wine bar feel, not a touristy brasserie knockoff. We each had a glass of wine to start—one red, one white—and both were well-selected and properly poured. The wine list isn’t huge, but it’s focused. Prices were reasonable for Bergen, and it felt like someone actually curated the menu instead of filling it out with filler options. For food, we shared a few light dishes, including the burrata, tartare, and frites. Everything came out quickly and was plated cleanly. The portions are small, but it’s intentional—it’s more of a wine-and-snack stop than a full dinner experience. Service was polite and attentive without being chatty. Our server gave solid recommendations and never rushed us, even as the room started to fill. The pacing worked well, and we never had to flag someone down. Overall, Brasserie Chérie is a great option if you want a calm, adult setting for a proper glass of wine and a few well-made bites. It’s not flashy, and it’s not trying too hard. Just a good spot to reset, talk, and take a breather between sightseeing or dinner plans. ”

“ For the best meal in Bergen skip the overpriced waterfront seafood places and instead walk a few blocks back to this gorgeous slice of Paris. Everything here was perfect - the beautifully decorated room, the fast service, and most of all the food. This is not traditional French food, it’s much more elaborate and superbly executed. The wine list was also a pleasant surprise with a nice range of well priced wines by the glass. A superb night out. ”
